East Lake, Florida consists of the separate sub-communities of East Lake Woodlands, Lansbrook, Ridgemoor, Woodfield, and Tarpon Woods. The community of East Lake is located in North East Pinellas County and is an active community with approx. 30,000 residents covering 33 square miles of real estate in Pinellas County.
Well known for its golf courses and convenient shopping plazas, it contains over 15,000 family homes and over one hundred local businesses. It was one of the last areas, in the heavily-dense county, to develop and is still growing at a rapid pace. It is often confused with East Lake, which is in neighboring Hillsborough County.
For nature lovers, East Lake is home of the John Chesnut Park, a large county park, and Brooker Creek Preserve which is the largest urban wilderness preserve. Access to Lake Tarpon is available at no cost through the John Chesnut Park. Lake Tarpon is renowned for its excellent bass fishing. East Lake is also a golfer's paradise with six eighteen-hole golf courses: East Lake Woodlands North, East Lake Woodlands South, Tarpon Woods, Lansbrook and Wentworth. In addition the Pinellas Trail runs from the south end of East Lake to Tarpon Springs Avenue for the person with the active lifestyle to enjoy. The closest beach is Honeymoon Island State Park. East Lake is at the northern most end of Pinellas County. Its boundaries include Pasco County to the north, Hillsborough County to the east, the city of Oldsmar to the south, and both Palm Harbor, and Tarpon Springs to the west.
